"Safe driving support service for fleet subscribers [Traffic violation analysis using movement estimation of "Smiling Road" safe driving support service]"
Sompo Japan provides a driving diagnosis service that automatically analyzes images of drive recorders for fleets using "Smiling Road", a safe driving support service. It uses NAVITIME JAPAN's map-matching technology, which can determine the accurate location. Companies can identify areas where traffic violations are suspected and understand the driver's driving habits to promote safe driving.
The Good Design Award has been given to the three companies which provides this service together: NAVITIME JAPAN, Sompo Japan, and SONPO RISK MANAGEMENT.
Comments by the Screening Unit: "Big data can sometimes exert full value when crossed with other data from a certain perspective. This service combines two types of data - GPS data and map data - to highlight "careless driving," or unintentional traffic violations by the driver, and provides feedback to the driver, resulting in a reduction of accidents. Another aspect that was highly evaluated is that the system is designed to constantly update data using both technology and manpower in order to accurately understand the road conditions - which is the core of the analysis.
