【Japan Travel】Search for Routes to Travel on Japan's Tourist Trains
Tokyo, Japan - February 22, 2024 - NAVITIME JAPAN has released a feature on their multi-lingual travel app that allows users to search for routes using tourist trains. The "Japan Travel by NAVITIME" app provides inbound tourists to Japan with navigation, transit information, destination information, and other useful travel related services in multiple languages.
In conventional searches, routes are created based on a balance of distance, time, and fares, where routes with faster arrival times to destinations are proposed first. For this reason, tourist trains, were difficult pick up in the search results.
The new feature will make it possible to propose routes that prioritize tourist trains, which is a generic term referring to non-commuter passenger trains which themselves offer an experience. These include heritage trains such as SL, those with scenic views, themed trains, and other special trains. Currently, the feature is compatible with 81 tourist trains across Japan.
Users do no need to alter their settings. If there is a tourist train that runs in the proximity of their route search, it will be shown in the results with a label.
