Probe traffic information to be provided through NAVITIME, EZ Navi Walk, and EZ Navi for passenger seat services

Services under the brand name "NAVITIME", operated by NAVITIME JAPAN Co., Ltd. ("NAVITIME JAPAN"), " EZ Navi Walk" and "EZ Navi for passenger seat", jointly run by NAVITIME JAPAN and KDDI CORPORATION ("KDDI"), have started providing probe traffic information in their services from February 4, 2010*1.
GPS data from vehicles on the roads are collected and analyzed to assess the traffic conditions and are provided as probe traffic information. NAVITIME uses road data collected from "Drive Supporter " and "EZ Navi for passenger seat"*2.
Now, in addition to the traffic information provided by VICS, probe traffic information will also be considered when calculating car routes*3. The probe traffic information will be shown as dotted lines on the maps*4.
*1 Probe information will be available for the following paid services: "NAVITIME" (Pro course), Drive Supporter", " EZ Navi Walk" (315 JPY course), and "EZ Navi for passenger seat" (157 JPY and 315 JPY courses).
*2 GPS data are collected from users that have agreed to provide such data.
*3 Probe traffic information is real time data. Therefore, probe traffic information will be considered for routes set to be departing at the current time. Additionally, in case the route is long in distance, the probe traffic information will consider only the area traveled close to the current time.
*4 Probe traffic information will only be shown on the maps (no text information). Traffic conditions are categorized based on the criteria provided by the National Public Safety Commission.
